Heat transfer, flow field, and oil flow tests were conducted on a 0.0175 scale model of the space shuttle orbiter. The tests were conducted at Mach 8. The objective of the tests was to determine the aerodynamic heating distribution on the orbiter SILTS tail configuration and to obtain flow field total pressure and total temperature measurements at the location of the leading edge of the vertical tail. The tests were conducted at free-stream Reynolds numbers ranging from 0.5 to 3.7 million per ft. The model angle of attack was varied from -5 to 5 deg and from 30 to 40 degrees.
