摘要

The mechanical, corrosion, metallurgical and secondary fabricability properties of the superplasticity formable Supral alloy were evaluated to assess the amenability of these alloys to standard aircraft practices. Fracture and fatigue properties were evaluated through extensive testing of superplasticity formed parts and discs. The mechanical property test results meet Alcan/Superform claims provided that the microaviation is restricted to less than three percent of the volume. Research findings show that Supral 100, 150, and 220 are alloys suitable for aircraft use. Testing of shop manufacturing practices and welding techniques indicate that the Supral alloys are comparable to standard U.S. aluminum alloys.
