摘要

The Vehicle Integrated Defense System (VIDS) is a demonstration of the feasibility of using a centralized Data Management System (DMS) to enhance the survivability of the armored vehicle. The Feasibility Demonstration Model (FDM) achieves data fusion by Multispectral Sensor Integration (MSI) over a standard interface (MIL-STD-1553B) using Ada, The DoD Standard Higher Order Language as the Program Design Language and the runtime code. Programming was accomplished on the UNISTAR 200 Workstation hosting an Ada Compiler and embedded system kit software developed by TeleSoft Corporation and targeting the MC68000 microprocessor. The operating system for the software development was UNIX V. In order to support the Ada Application packages in runtime on the target, we designed and coded a special Ada Runtime Operating System (ARTOS) which can be burned into PROM for embedded processing of the software. The entire DMS processor is housed in an enclosure 7-1/2 inches wide by 10 inches high by 17 inches long with a self-contained, 28-volt DC converter, making it suitable for temporary installation in an M1 for field test purposes.
