摘要

Methods for measuring both acoustic and vibrational power flow in piping systems are presented. A non-invasive dynamic pressure sensor for this application is hypothesized and a prototype based on polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) piesoelectric film strip is developed. Acoustic intensity measurements made in a straight pipe section indicate measurable interaction with the pipe wall along its length corresponding to acoustic column resonance mode shape. difficulties are encountered in implementing structural intensity measurements for verifying energy flow paths for this particular experimental configuration. PVDF strip prototype indicates excellent capabilities for noninvasive measurement of dynamic pressure inside pipe at low frequencies. Future investigations on a similar system with a 90 degree elbow are discussed.
