摘要

Vector and matrix methods in general, and the finite element method in particular, are now common engineering tools. Vectors are used to represent coordinates of points in 3-space, forces displacements, velocities, and so forth. Matrices are typically used to represent finite element stiffness or flexibility, damping, mass, coordinate transformation rules, etc. Any modern college mathematics book may be consulted for vector and matrix theory. This report documents a set of vector and matrix arithmetic procedures in Turbo Pascal. Use of the procedures permits fast program development. Pascal, a programming language invented in the early 1970's by Niklaus Wirth, differs from FORTRAN in the way in which parameters are passed to procedures. (sdw)
