BASF Cleared to Acquire Cognis

Ludwisshafen-The European Commission (EC) and Chinese authorities have approved BASF's acquisition of Cognis Holding GmbH for euro 3.1-billion (PCN, 28 June 2010, p 3).The EC approval is subject to the divestiture of Cognis' hydroxy methacrylates, multifunctional methacrylates and adducts businesses, as well as plants for the production of polyalkylene glycols (PAG) and PAG-based lubricants.
