Ube Expanding Caprolactam Output; Starting New Nylon 6 Production

Bangkok-Ube Industries is proceeding with previously postponed plans to increase caprolactam capacity by 20,000 t/y at its Ube Chemicals (Asia) Public Co. Ltd. subsidiary in Rayong, Thailand (PCN, 4 Jan 2010, p 4). The project, costing about ￥3-billion, will raise Ube Chemicals total caprolactam capacity to 130,000 t/y. Construction will be completed in December 2011, with start of commercial operations planned in January 2012.
