Tokyo—The 11 Mar. earthquake in northeastern Japan and resulting tsunami have halted operations at numerous petrochemical complexes and refineries, with estimates that at least 1.7-million t/y of ethylene capacity and over 1-million b/d of crude processing capacity have been shut down.
