PetroVietnam Delaying Until December Building Award for Nghi Son Refinery

Hanoi-PetroVietnam plans to delay announcing the winner of a construction contract for the 200,000-b/d Nghi Son refinery in Vietnam's Thanh Hoa province until December (PCN, 28 June 2010, p 4). The contract, which had been expected to be awarded in October, is being delayed at the request of several bidders, the official Vietnam News Agency reported. The bidders had requested a delay of four months, but PetroVietnam has agreed to delay the award by only "two months and a half to ensure the project's progress." Operations are due to begin in 2014.
