Ineos Targets Commercial Production Of Bioethanol from Household Waste

London-Ineos said within the next two years it plans to produce large quantities of bioethanol fuel from biodegradable municipal waste, organic commercial waste and agricultural residues, among others. The technology, proven at pilot plant scale, uses a three stage process. The waste is superheated to produce gases, then the gases are fed to naturally occurring bacteria, through a patented process, which efficiently produces ethanol. Finally, the ethanol is purified to make the fuel ready to be blended for use in cars.
