Residue estimation of imidacloprid on using its new liquid formulation as seed dressing in cotton

Cottonseeds, treated with imidacloprid (Gaucho 600 FS formulation) at recommended dose of 6, 9 or 12 mL kg~(-1) and two higher (2X) dosages, i.e., @ 18 and 24 mL formulation kg~(-1) seed, were sown at the farm of Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi and no other additional pesticide was applied to the crop. The experiments involved raising the crop following good agricultural practices of the region for three consecutive eyars (1999 to 2001). The work was conducted for evaluating whether the seed treatment will leave residues of this insecticide in cottonseed at harvest and it was found that the residues were below detectable limit (<0.05 mg kg~(-1)).
