摘要

The integration of ~18F-flurodeoxyglucose (FDG-PET) with CT images has been widely used in tumor staging and radiation treatment planning of many tumor sites, especially head and neck and non-small cell lung cancers. In addition, PET has been increasingly used for treatment monitoring, and findings on PET during cancer treatment can be used to predict treatment outcomes for many cancer sites. Hillner and colleagues demonstrated that physicians often modified their intended chemotherapy or radiation treatment plans when PET was used for treatment monitoring, and the impact of follow-up PET was most significant if it showed worse prognosis compared with the baseline images.
