摘要

Comparative study of a commercial cleaner (blend of synthetic surfactants) and a test IARI product made from nontoxic reagents in removing malathion, alleged to be the most common contaminant of vegetables in the market, is reported. UV radiation in combination with edible alkali and potassium permanganate was most effective and removed 100% malathion from the contaminated vegetables as well as the waste water generated during the treatment. A new degradation product has been identified and is reported with its spectral data.
