Going green

Power and energy company EDF has set a double precedent for green bonds on the European Union (EU) market in the past few years, with one listed bond in 2013 and one private company green bond offering in October 2015. Meanwhile, Glass Point Solar, a US company funded by Shell, is constructing what is claimed will be the world's most powerful solar farm (1,021 MW) at the Amal oil field in southern Oman, completion of which is expected in 2017. It seems green finance is here and a green bond from an oil and gas company could be closer to fact than fiction in the near future.
