Whilst bulk chemical and petrochemical suppliers have utilised flow process for years as a means of fine tuning processes in order to laximise efficiency, meet the commodity emands of their customers and obtain /orkable margins, fine chemical ompanies have retained the use of batch inks owing to the need to remain flexible s they produce large numbers of diverse roducts. Under unprecedented levels of ressure to shorten the time to market nd to reduce CAPEX and OPEX costs, the ne chemical and pharmaceutics1 idustries now have an economic driver to arness the advantages of emerging ;chnoiogies, such as continuous flow ;actors, given the potential :o streamline evelopment processes and intensify rocesses (1).
