In an analysis of progress made under Canada's Chemicals Management Plan (CMP) from its inception in 2006 to 2011, the Toronto-based NGO Environmental Defence gives the Canadian government high marks. "In large part, this program is achieving what it set out to do, and has put Canada ahead of most other countries in dealing with chemicals that adversely impact the environment and human health," Environmental Defence Executive Director Rick Smith says in a July 7 statement.
