Image Processing and Analysis in Diagnostics and Radiotherapy of Thyroid Gland Diseases: Problems, Approaches, and Methods

For the treatment of cancer of thyroid gland with metastases in the lungs, we propose to optimize the dose of the radioactive iodine isotope as the function of the biomass of these metastases. It is proposed to evaluate the biomass using computer analysis of the chest X-ray image by the means of sequential elimination of the shadowing elements from the image (images of the ribs, clavicles, vertebras, blood vessels, and the roots of the lungs).
