The debate between EU member states on the thorny issue of GMO authorizations got a kick-start this week, after Poland's agriculture minister called on the bloc to ban all biotech cultivation and imports. "We are now proposing to completely prohibit not only the cultivation of GM plants but also imports of feed and food that is genetically modified... and not just in Poland," Marek Sawicki told the Polish television channel TVP.
