BP plans to double renewables spend

BP HAS pledged to double its commitment to alternative and renewable energy over the next three years,to meet rising demand for low-carbon energy sources.A new company,BP Alternative Energy,to be based near London,is to be formed to manage an investment programme in solar,wind,hydrogen and combined-cycle gas-turbine (CCGT) power generation.The programme will be worth up to us8bn over the next decade.
