Chief executives from 10 of the world’s biggest oil and gas firms met in Paris on 16 October to deliver a joint statement on climate change. But agreeing a joint position on carbon pricing remains a key dilemma for the group as it tries to expand its membership before a critical UN climate summit at the end of this year. The firms participating in the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) are BP, Total, Shell, India’s Reliance Industries, the UK’s BG, Italy’s Eni, Spain’s Repsol and state-run companies Saudi Aramco, Mexico’s Pemex and Norway’s Statoil.
