Orinoco drilling key to PdV progress

Venezuelan state-owned PdV plans to increase output through additional drilling in the Orinoco extra-heavy oil belt this year. It aims to drill 700-800 wells in the region this year — a rate of three wells a day, up from two a day at present. PdV is targeting 2.5mn b/d of fresh Orinoco production by 2019 (WPA, 24 April, p4).
