Venezuela has made new appointments at its top two energy posts, signalling its cash-hungry government’s push to reinvigorate the oil and electricity sectors. Caracas has named state-owned oil firm PdV chief executive Eulogio del Pino as energy and mines minister, a portfolio he will run alongside his current role. Del Pino replaces Asdrubal Chavez, who will compete in 6 December national assembly elections representing Barinas state, a political stronghold of the late president Hugo Chavez, his cousin.
