UK firm BG has cut its 2012-13 production forecast because of operational setbacks in the UK, Brazil and Egypt, and reduced shale gas drilling in the US. The revision comes at an uncertain time for the com- pany, with chief executive Frank Chapman due to stand down at some point next year, and chief financial officer Fabio Barbosa — one of three internal candidates to replac him — recently granted leave of absence to undergo medi- cal treatment (WPA, 21 November, p13).
