Genetic diversity of alfalfa (Medicago spp.) estimated by molecular markers and morphological characters

Background and Purpose: Genetic diversity of initial selection materi-als is essential for successful breeding and creation ofnew cultivars. The ob-jectives of this research were to study genetic diversity among alfalfa (Medi-cago spp.) cultivars/population with a different geographical origin byRAPD markers and morphological characters, to determine genetic varia-tion among and within materials using RAPD markers, and to compare re-sults based on molecular markers and morphological characters.
