Pecan Aphids: Part 2 - tools for managing pesticide resistance

This is the second of a 2-part series on pecan aphids and insecticide resistance. In last month's Part 1 article, data from 2011 Texas laboratory and field insecticide tests that looked at possible imidacloprid resistance in Texas were presented whilethis month's column will focus on resistance management issues. The objective of this 2-part series is to bring awareness to producers on what is happening in Texas with pecan aphids and imidacloprid and to gather information on pecan insecticide use for these pests. We would like to encourage producers to go to this website, http://pecan. ipmpipe.org, to fill out a short survey on their insecticide use. The information is confidential and the data will be used to evaluate programs and establish guidelines for aphid management.
