It takes quite a car to convert someone into a real enthusiast, but with slick looks and plenty of power to match, this Focus had the magic touch. Often, on these pages, you'll find us introducing someone who's been a part of the Ford scene for many years, perhaps someone for whom Fords run in the family or who's driven Fords all their lives. But David Ferdinando isn't one of those. While he's always liked cars, he freely admits that he didn't become a real petrolhead until a few years ago, when he started working as the web designer for R-Tec in St Albans. It was the enthusiasm of the boys and girls at R-Tec that rubbed off on David, and got him thinking that there might be more to cars than just an easy way to get to work and back. And when he saw Clarkson's review of the Focus ST on Top Gear, he knew just what he wanted to trade up to from his Peugeot 206. "I wanted one as soon as I saw it," he says, "so I started saving and managed to save up enough."
