The one thing I always hated aboutprinters was the exact question thisarticle [Forward, January] addresses:How much ink is left when I run outof one color? Then I bought my firstCanon IP4000-series printer a few yearsago. These printers have individual inktanks; the tanks are transparent so onecan easily see the ink level clearly, andone can anticipate needing ink if a largeor critical printing job is coming up.Why can't other companies use trans-parent or translucent cartridges? Is itbecause they don't want you to seehow much ink you're throwing awaywhen you run out of, say, yellow?
