Filtration plays a key role in economics of coated paper-making by: ensuring end quality by removing contaminants from the coating colour. These contaminants cause streaks on the paper-especially in modern machines using blade coating. enhancing process efficiency. Automated filtration with an integrated cleaning system increases throughput and reduces coating colour losses, water consumption and maintenance costs. But, to achieve these benefits a mill must have the right filtration strategy and the right filtration system-a system correctly sized and which can deal with a whole range of contaminants. In some mills, a series of filters may be required at different points in the process-from the reception of the coating colour to the feed line to the coating station.
