摘要

A series of biologically active complexes of cobalt(II) and nickel(II) with nicotinoylhydrazine derived compoundshaving the same metal ion but different anions, such as sulphate,nitrate, oxalate and acetate, have been synthesised andcharacterised on the basis of their physical, analytical and spectraldata. In order to understand the possible role of anions on theantibacterial properties, these synthesised compounds and theirmetal complexes with various anions have been screened againstthe bacterial species Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosaand Staphylococcus aureus. These title studies have indicated adecisive role of anions in increasing the antibacterial properties.
