Shale gas/coal bed methane gas

Coal bed methane projects are in operation in the eastern part of the country. Shale gas projects are still in exploratory stage in India. Both the above projects call for use of two major stressed resources namely land and water. The environmental issues particularly due to underground water depletion are serious.
