Use of an RH facility for the production of sheet grades at Voest-Alpine Stahl Linz GmbH

Voest-Alpine Stahl Linz produces ultra low carbon deep-drawing-quality sheet steels by theconverter/RH facility process route. To do this, the mode of converter operation has been optimised.A particular Ti/N ratio is achieved specially for ULC and IF steel grades in order to minimise non-metallic inclusions. By reducing the concentrations of oxygen, sulphur. nitrogen and carbon, it ispossible to decrease the required level of titanium and save alloying agents.
