The conditions on the steel markets around the world have changed greatly over the last few years. The steel companies have reacted to this with new organisational structures. At the 1995 Eisenhüttentag conference of the VDEh, European steel companies with predominantly flat-steel-orientated product mixes presented profiles of themselves and their strategic realignment. The participating companies were: Aktiengesellschaft der Dillinger Hüttenwerke, Arbed S.A./Sidmar N.V./Stahlwerke Bremen GmbH, Eko Stahl GmbH, Koninklijke Hoogovens NV, Krupp Hoesch Stahl AG, Preussag Stahl AG, Thyssen Stahl AG and Voest-Alpine Stahl AG. Their reports focussed on corporate strategy in the steel sector, implementation of the strategy through corporate restructuring, and the results of such restructuring.
