While the winter of 2014—2015 was brutal, with record amounts of snow covering large patches of the U.S. and Canada, temperatures were so warm this past December that many retailers in the North kept their doors and windows open throughout the month. While that almost certainly delivered a bit of a sales bump, it isn't likely to have changed many routines. Winter is still when store owners in all but the warmest climes reassess and get ready for spring.
