Recent Case Studies in The Cladding of Large Diameter Mill Rolls

The weld reclamation of continuous caster rolls is a relatively mature technology throughout the global steel industry. Indeed, through continual development of the welding equipment, procedure and consumables weld claddingis contributing to improved caster roll life. However, to date, the technology of weld reclamation has not been exploited to the same extent in the cladding of hot strip mill process rolls. In many instances this is because the roll material does not lend itself to welding but often a simple lack of confidencein the performance of the clad roll prevents the adoption of the reclamation process.
