In MY 2012/13, total sugar production is forecast at 13.1 MMT (raw value), up 6% due to increased acreage for both sugar cane and sugar beets. In MY 2011/12, total sugar production is estimated at 12.3 MMT (raw value), up 10% because of higher acreageand strong yields. MY 2012/13 sugar imports are forecast to remain strong at 2.1 MMT (raw value). In MY 2012/13, total sugar production is forecast at 13.1 MMT (raw value), up 6% due to increased acreage. Cane and beet sugar production is projected at 11.8 MMT and 1.3 MMT (raw value), rising 5% and 15% from the previous year. In MY 2011/12 total sugar production is estimated at 12.3 MMT (raw value), up 10% on higher acreage and strong yields.
