摘要

National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) has to its credit technologies to related production of Zeolite-A from flyash which has been patented nationally and internationally. FAZ-A has been synthesized from flyash, which is known to have certain toxic elements with it. It was therefore deemed necessary to study the toxic nature of FAZ-A in comparison with flyash. A detailed elemental analysis has been conducted for flyash and flash based zeolite-A. The toxicity of FAZ-A have been tested using toxicity characteristics leaching procedure (TCLP). The results presented herein are indicative that flyash based zeolite-A do not contain any of the toxic element, viz., As, Ag, Ba, Cd, Pb, Hg and Se beyond the prescribed limits, thus classifying it as a non-toxic material.
