Seeds of white-flowered 81-1-145 soybean line (Smutkupt et al., 1984, 1985 and Smutkupt, 1987) were irradiated with 15 krad in the gammater of the Department of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, Kasetsart University and planted in alternate rows with anon-irradiated purple-flowered 81-1-038 line (Smutkupt et al., 1988). As a control experiment, non-irradiated seeds of 81-1-145 were also planted in alternate rows with 81-1-038, which was used as a pollen donating line. The experiments were carried outat the Royal Pang Da Agricultural Station, Amphur Samoeng, Chiang Mai from January to May, 1994.
