On June 18, President Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon announced a significant development in the ongoing Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact negotiations: the nine current negotiating countries invited our immediate southern neighbor to join the trade talks.The pending agreement is currently being negotiated between Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, Vietnam and the United States. For our industry, TPP represents a substantial opportunity to increase the export of high-quality, American-grown potatoes and potato products.
