In an automotive stamping plant, engineers and technicians were having difficulties with the integrity of the electrical I/O interface their iced bar rail systems. The original I/O modules supplied the press manufacturer smooth-surface contacts that regularly became contaminated with and din. resulting in intermittent signal conned ions. Lacking a consistent electric connection created significant downtime. At best maintenance was a daily requirement. At worst broken pins and wires in the plug translated into at least (our hot of extensive repairs to take t plug apart and get all 28 pins back together again. And the process had to be completed at the press rather than on the bench. The problem grew worse as t equipment aged.
