Despite reports that sales of some commercial aircraft (notably the "jumbo" Boeing 747 and the "Super Jumbo" Airbus A380) have recently been sluggish, the main challenge to manufacturers is that of working through their bulging backlogs. Manufacturers' own forecasts remain bullish. For instance, Boeing projects demand for world-wide 39,620 new airplanes over the next 20 years, an increase of 4.1 % over last year's forecast. Growth will be especially strong in Asia. Boeing estimates demand for 3,750 new planes from South-East Asia over the next 20 years. Traffic volume for the Indian market is set to grow by 8.4% per year for the next 20 years. Other demand hotspots include China, Singapore, Russia and the UAE.
