Formosa Plastic Group of Taiwan are to build an integrated stainless steel mill in China's Fujian province. The mill will use the subsidiary company name, Samoa. Construction of the 750.000 tonnes per year plant is due to start this year. Venezuela's government will, this year, start work on a new stainless steelworks project under the name Aceros del Alba. Both this and the related ferro-nickel plant development will be undertaken in partnership with the Cuban government.
