Taiyuan Iron & Steel Co (Tisco), China's largest stainless steel producer, is to expand its strip production capacity. Two new rolling mills will be installed with a combined annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes, along with a 700,000 tonne per year cold strip annealing and pickling line. Production is scheduled to begin in 2007. Posco is expected to start producing stainless hot band at its 600,000 tonne per year Zhangjiagang Pohang Stainless Steel joint venture in mid 2006. It is expected to be operating commercially before the end of that year.
