Posco is to go ahead with the installation of a new 400,000 tonne per year stainless cold rolling facility at Pohang, Work will start in January next year and it is scheduled to be completed in mid 2007. As a result, the site's total annual stainless cold rolling potential will be lifted to 580,000 tonnes. North American Stainless, the US subsidiary of Spain's Acerinox, is to install a second electric arc furnace at its Carrollton works in Kentucky. It is scheduled to come on stream by August 2006 and will replace a similar unit at the plant. The hot metal will go to NAS's slab caster and recently commissioned billet caster.
