An experiment was initiated on 25 August 2000, in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India, to evaluate the effects of different planting density and NK fertigation levels on the yield of banana cv. Grand-Naine. The plant density treatments were: (S1) conventional treatment, 1.8x1.8 m spacing, single plant per hill, 3086 plants/ha; (S2) 1.8x1.8 m, 2 plants per hill, 6172 plants/ha; (S3) 1.2x1.2x2.0 m, paired row system, 5208 plants/ha; and (S4) and 1.8x3.6 m, 3 plants per hill, 4500 plants/ha. The fertigation treatments were: (L0) control, 100% recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF, 200:40:200 g/plant) through soil; (L1) 50% RDF of N and K through drip; (L2) 75% RDF of N and K through drip; and (L3) 100% RDF of N and K through drip. Data were recorded for pseudostem girth, number of functional leaves at flowering, days for harvesting, number of hands per bunch, number of fingers per bunch, bunch length, bunch circumference, finger length, finger girth, bunch weight and yield per hectare. S2+L2 recorded the highest yield of 82.79 MT/ha..
