For Safety's Sake: Proper safety training can prevent accidents and result in higher profits

According to 2002 Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) statistics, there were 10,965 reported cases of serious injuries in the landscape and horticulture industry nationwide — resulting in hundreds of thousands of days of missed work and lost productivity. Estimates for 2003 and 2004 are similar — if not increased. Recognizing this trend for what OSHA considers one of the more hazardous industries in the country, it partnered with the Associated Landscape Contractors of America — now known as Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) — to discover ways to reduce these figures and make the green industry safer.
