THE 10 REASONS AND HOPES ABOUT IN VITRO SPF METHOD

For now about three decades, a lot of people all over the world know, use, trust or do not trust at all the In Vitro transmission method(s) for the assessment of the sun protection efficacy of cosmetic products. Although the principle is quite simple as it consists in spreading a low quantity of product onto a roughened material and even if there has been quite a long period for practicing, it is obvious nobody is till now yet able to describe the way to perform method in order to get at least reproducible results. It is of interest to remind, at this step, than for several people a reliable method is only defined as "the one which correlate the In Vivo method". This In Vivo method has been proposed more or less at the same period. The objective of most industries and will of all health authorities to substitute the In Vivo methods by In Vitro ones seems far from being reached. Based on really pragmatic facts and obvious observations, we will hereby describe 10 reasons which can explain why it is so hard to get a reliable method -if ever it is possible- and 10 good reasons to hope for getting at least THE method considering some recent innovations.
