Sherritt Coal Offer for Luscar Coal Expires

Sherritt Coal Partnership (Sherritt Coal), Toronto, announced that at the midnight May 23 expiry of its amended offer to acquire Luscar Coal Income Fund, it had received more than 95 percent of the outstanding units and 96 percent of the debentures of the Fund.The company said it intends to exercise its rights under the declaration of trust governing the units, and the trust indenture governing the debentures, to amend such instruments to permit it to acquire all the units and debentures not tendered under the amended offer.
