ArcelorMittal Seeks Captive Iron Ore in Orissa, Gains Share of Chinese Steel Products Maker

ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steelmaker, has approached India's Orissa state government to permit a long-term agreement with Orissa Mining Corp. (OMC) for access to iron ore. "We have received a proposal from ArcelorMittal, requesting for an arrangement with OMC," according to a senior officer. "The government is exploring the possibilities and details remain to be worked out. It could mean a long term agreement or a joint venture between the two parties," the officer told an Indian news agency.
