TUCKED AWAY UNDER TONS of concrete and steel, the baggage-claim area at Terminal C of Newark Airport was once a notorious cell phone dead zone. And for a dozen frustrated travelers on a recent Monday, it obviously still was, as tourists and business travelers glared impatiently at their useless handsets. But the annoyance wasn't universal. Nextel, Sprint and Cingular Wireless customers could easily place calls. These carriers have connected to the airport's new indoor network of antennas, allowing clear signals that the have-nots can only envy.
