The growth of e-commerce within the pharmaceutical sector has fundamentally changed customer and partner expectations, marking a shift from ordering via telesales and dial-up technology to internet and web platforms. This move has placed increased pressure on pharmaceutical wholesalers such as Phoenix Healthcare Distribution Ltd., part of Phoenix Pharmahandel GmbH & Co KG, one of the leading pharmaceutical wholesalers in Europe. It found that its existing technology was not originally designed to support the increasing demand for online ordering from hospitals, general practices and pharmacies, or stock checks by drug manufacturers.
